Cleaning the boot after a move, hobby gear or a renovation
Moving boxes, sports gear and renovation supplies leave sand, dust and sometimes damp in the boot. Vacuum up loose dirt soon, before it gets pressed into the carpet. If you want us to clean the boot, choose Full or Total interior cleaning: the boot is included in both. Light interior cleaning does not include the boot.
What a load leaves behind
After a move, the boot usually holds dust from cardboard and furniture, plus sand from shoes and whatever was carried in. Sports and hobby gear brings in sand, grass and damp, and wet gear easily leaves a smell. A renovation load leaves fine dust that spreads into the carpet, the seams and under the floor panel.
Cleaning it yourself
- Empty everything. Lift the boot floor panel too if it comes out, and check whether sand, dust or water has got underneath.
- Vacuum it dry. Vacuum fine dust before you dampen any surfaces. When it gets wet, dust turns into a paste that gets pressed into the carpet, and dust containing cement can harden.
- Dry any wet patches. If the carpet has got wet, lift it out to dry and leave the boot open for a while. A damp boot starts to smell musty.
- Wipe the plastic surfaces. A damp cloth is enough for the side panels and the boot sill once the loose dust has been vacuumed away.
Easier next time
A protective cover or a rubber liner shaped to fit the boot catches most of the dirt, and you can wash it separately. Pack dusty renovation waste in closed sacks and wet gear in a bag or box. The less dirt touches the carpet, the easier the boot is to clean.
When you want us to clean the boot
The boot is included in Full interior cleaning (€64–77) and Total interior cleaning (€189–229). The latter also includes wet cleaning of the seats, and the job takes 4–8 hours. Light interior cleaning does not include the boot.
When you book, use the Message to the shop field to tell us what has been carried in the boot, for example renovation supplies or wet gear. That way we know in advance what to expect.
